VGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Air Switching Valves Product Bulletin1 Refer to the QuickLIT website for the most up-to-date version of this document. The VGA Series Three-Way Air Switching Valves switch the flow of air from one supply pressure to another in dual supply pressure control systems. All VGA Series Three-Way Air Switching Valves come equipped with a factory-mounted V-3000-8012 Exposed Pneumatic Actuator, and are available with or without a variety of factory-installed adaptor fitting configurations (as noted in table 2). The VGA Series Valve is also furnished with a split-clamp bracket, for surface mounting in an upright position. The V-3000-8012 Series Pneumatic Actuator features a die-cast aluminum housing and a molded, synthetic rubber diaphragm design. This molded diaphragm provides a constant effective area throughout the valve stem stroke. The actuator can be easily removed or repositioned by loosening a single set screw without disturbing the remainder of the valve assembly. The cast bronze valve body complies with ANSI standards. The valve body features a brass seat against a molded elastomeric disc, which provides tight shutoff. An arrow is cast into the valve body indicating the direction of flow for proper piping.Note:Refer to the Specifications table for limits and factory settings, as well as other air valve specification information.Figure 1: VGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Switching ValveTable 1: Features and BenefitsFeaturesBenefitsAvailable with a Choice of Various Factory-Installed Adapter FittingsShortens the installation time, as each air switching valve arrives on the job site already equipped with appropriate fittings for the applicationHigh Volume Output Rated for 125 psig (861 kPa) SystemsResults in a universal air switching valve, utilizing the power of the V-3000-8012 Pneumatic Actuator to accommodate even the most demanding supply changeover requirementsRugged Cast Bronze Body with Corrosion-Resistant Mounting BracketProvides for sturdy mounting and piping of the air switching valve, allowing for vibration-free and corrosion-free operationDocument Flow Characteristics and Cross ReferencingSimplifies product application and selection for new installations or existing product changeoutEquipped with V-3000 Series ActuatorAllows for worldwide product availabilityVGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Air Switching ValvesProduct BulletinVGA8x2GT+3008ECode No. LIT-718155Part No. 14-880-192, Rev. CIssued February 201614-880-192, Rev. CVGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Air Switching Valves Product Bulletin2Application OverviewOperationWhen the control air pressure in the V-3000-8012 Pneumatic Actuator exceeds the switchover point of 13 psig (90 kPa), the valve stem-and-plug assembly is forced down, opening the N.C. (Normally Closed) port and closing the N.O. (Normally Open) port. When the control pressure in the actuator nears 0 psig (0 kPa), the spring allows the stem-and-plug assembly to return to its normal position, opening the N.O. port and closing the N.C. port. IMPORTANT:The VGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Air Switching Valve is intended to control air flow under normal operating conditions. Where failure or malfunction of the valve could lead to personal injury or property damage to the controlled equipment or other property, additional precautions must be designed into the control system. Incorporate and maintain other devices, such as supervisory or alarm systems or safety or limit controls, intended to warn of or protect against failure or malfunction of the valve.IMPORTANT :Le VGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Air Switching Valve est destiné à réguler un débit l'air dans des conditions normales de fonctionnement. Table 2: Nominal Flow Capacities, scim (mL/s)VGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Air Switching ValveSupply Pressure: 15 psig (103 kPa)Supply Pressure: 20 psig (138 kPa)Pressure Drop (psi)Pressure Drop (psi)0.1250.2500.5001.000.1250.2500.5001.00With 1/2 in.Barbed Adaptors4,320(1,179)6,480(1,769)9,504(2,595)12,960(3,538)5,184(1,415)7,344(2,005)10,368(2,830)12,960(3,538)With 3/8 in.Barbed Adaptors2,074(566)2,938(802)3,888(1,061)5,616(1,533)2,160(590)3,024(826)4,320(1,179)6,048(1,651)With 1/2 in.Compression Adaptors6,048(1,651)8,640(2,359)12,096(3,302)16,848(4,600)6,480(1,769)9,504(2,595)12,960(3,538)18,144(4,953)1/2 in. (5 mm) hole at each of the marked locations. An F-1000-328 Anchor Kit (includes 100 screws, 100 anchors, and a drill bit for concrete surfaces) must be ordered separately to make the installation. For all other mounting surfaces, drill a pilot hole at each of the marked locations for No. 10 or No. 12 thread-forming screws (field furnished).4.Secure the mounting bracket to the surface.5.Install the valve into the mounting bracket, securing the bracket around the N.O. body adaptor (as illustrated in Figure 1).6.Make the appropriate air connections to the valve, ensuring that the valve is piped with the flows in the directions indicated by the arrows cast into the valve body.7.Attach the control air line to the barbed fitting on the actuator to complete the installation. !WARNING: Risk of Personal Injury.Disconnect the control air line before servicing the actuator and valve assembly. Figure 4: Typical Application Using VGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Air Switching ValveN.C.SSCOMVGA SeriesAir Switching ValveN.C.N.C.N.C.HNN.O.COMVGA Series Pneumatic Three-Way Air Switching Valves Product Bulletin5Ordering Information Repair InformationIf the VGA Series Three-Way Air Switching Valve fails to operate within its specifications, replace the unit.
